PCG seizes 40kg opium

KARACHI: Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) said on Thursday that it has seized fine quality of opium from Naka Khari check post near Winder in Balochistan.

PCG officials received information from intelligence sources about the smuggling of narcotics through RD Highway. Different passenger buses were stopped for checking at Naka Khari check post near Winder. During checking of a passenger bus, PCG officials recovered approximately 40 kilograms of opium from an unclaimed bag kept in the bus.

The passenger bus was moving from Mand to Karachi. After complete search, the bus was released being a public carrier. Approximate value of the opium in international market is Rs 25 million.

Further investigation and legal process was underway.
