Karachi: PIA is in the process of acquiring latest aircraft in its fleet and has received delivery of the second A320 aircraft on dry lease which arrived today at Islamabad Airport increasing the operational fleet to 26 aircraft.
This was stated by Secretary Aviation and Chairman PIA, Muhammad Ali Gardezi at a simple ceremony held at Islamabad Airport.
Our aim is the revival of PIA as desired by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Shareef and under the guidance and supervision of Shujaat Azeem, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Aviation, the airline is moving in the right direction.
He said that with the induction of these latest technology fuel efficient aircraft, the airline will be in a better position to offers services to its passengers and at the same time will benefit PIA in terms of fuel savings which is a major cost factor for the airline.
Gardezi said that PIA will receive the third A320 aircraft in October while one aircraft on wet lease will be inducted in PIA fleet in August and it is expected that PIA will have 7-10 more aircraft inducted in its fleet by December, this year 2014.
Managing Director PIA, Shahnawaz Rehman sharing his views on the occasion said that with the induction of aircraft in PIA fleet, we will be able to restore our flights frequencies and introduce new destinations for the convenience of our passengers. He said that with employees team work and the support of Government of Pakistan PIA will soon be able to restore its past glory.
