KARACHI: Directors, managers and staff of Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER) on Thursday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of senior columnist, human rights and women rights activist Najma Sadeque in Karachi.
A condolence meeting of PILER staff was held here in which Executive Director PILER Karamat Ali paid rich tribute to late Najma Sadeque who, he said, fought her entire life for the rights of poor and vulnerable sections of Pakistani society.
She was founder member of Women Action Forum (WAF) and active member of other human rights bodies and networks in the South Asian region. In her columns, she wrote for the issues of poor, vulnerable, land reforms, women and minorities rights.
Senior Managers Ms Zeenat Hissam and Sharafat Ali also eulogized the contributions of late Najma to the society. They extended condolences to the bereaved family.
All the staff members observed two-minute silence for late Najma Sadeque on the occasion.
