PILER donates Rs500,000 for Nepal quake victims

KARACHI: Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER) has donated Rs 500,000 for the emergency relief to earthquake-hit people in Nepal. The amount has been transferred to the bank account of NGO Federation of Nepal, which had made an appeal to all the civil society organisations and networks of the world, especially in the South Asian region.

This donation amount also includes one-day salary of all the employees of PILER, the remaining amount is contributed by Pakistan Labour Trust, a sister organistion of PILER.

PILER has urged other civil society organisations, philanthropist associations and individuals to contribute larger amounts in the relief fund of the NGO Federation of Nepal. The donations can be transferred through the bank account in Nabil Bank Limited, Tindhara, Beenamarg, Kathamandu, Nepal. Nepal was jolted due to severe earthquake measuring 7.8 at the Richter scale on 25th of April in which more than 8,000 people died and more than 19,000 were reportedly injured. A series of aftershocks and another big earthquake hit Nepal on 12th May with a magnitude of 7.3. The destruction of property and infrastructure is enormous and thousands of people are still homeless and need relief and emergency healthcare facilities.
