KARACHI: A delegation of Pakistani Medical Association (PMA) on Wednesday met Coordinator to Prime Minister (PM) Imtiaz Shaikh regarding the ongoing killing of doctors in Karachi and threats to extortionists.
The delegation comprising President PMA Karachi Prof Mohammad Idrees Adhi, Dr Mirza Ali Azhar, Dr Nisar Shah and Dr Khair Mohammad Narejo met coordinator of Prime Minister Imtiaz Shaikh regarding the target killing of doctors in Karachi.
The delegation apprised Imtiaz Shaikh of the current situation that 59 doctors had been killed since 2010, hundreds of doctors received threatening calls and emails from a group working abroad for paying protection money. As a result of this situation, around 3000 doctors have left the country and many more are thinking the same way.
The delegation requested Imtiaz Shaikh to raise his voice in support of the doctors demand.
