The purpose of World Environment Day is to focus worldwide attention on the importance of the environment and stimulate political attention and action. The theme and logo selected to be the focus for all World Environment Day for 2014 is “Planet Earth is our shared island, let us join forces to protect it”.
As a part of its Policy, Pakistan Navy takes into account the implication of Environment on all its strategic decision making and its linkage with national/maritime security. Conduct of regular Harbour cleaning campaigns, collection of floating debris around Naval Jetties to prevent accelerated material degradation of Ships & platforms, planning & conduct of oil spill exercises to improve expertise and coordination between all stake holders to effectively handle national marine disasters and seasonal tree plantations are few of the initiatives being taken by Pakistan Navy round the year for contributing towards improving the earth environment and in particular, eradicating the marine pollution.
