PNA concerned at delay in nurses promotions

Karachi: General Secretary, Provincial Nurses Association (PNA) Karachi Division, Abdul Wahid, on Wednesday showed deep concern over delay in promotions of nurses under Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) and warned of protest throughout Sindh province if promotions order is not issued forthwith.

He said during an emergency meeting of PNA Karachi Division leaders held here. President PNA Salamati Khokhar, Vice-President Muhammad Rehan, Information Sectary Heera Lal and Spokesman Atta Hussain Rajpar were also present in the meeting.

He said no step had been taken yet for promotion of nurses despite repeated requests made to high-ups. The promotions have been delayed without any justification, he said.

Wahid said uncertainty was prevalent among nursing community. He also showed his deep concern over shifting powers of director nursing to additional secretary technical. He said director nursing post was lying vacant since 19 May 2014.

He demanded of health department high-ups to fill the vacant post of director nursing forthwith and issue promotion order under DPC, otherwise, nurses would be compelled to hold protest throughout Sindh province.
