Police arrest 1076, recover illegal weapons
KARACHI: On the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Dr Syed Kaleem Imam, during weekly crackdown drive against illegal weapons in all districts of Sindh province, police arrested 1076 criminals and recovered huge quantity of illegal weapons.
According to police sources, the police conducted operations against criminals in different parts Karachi and apprehended 290 criminals. The police also recovered three Kalashnikovs, 12 hand grenades, 278 pistols, two repeaters, eight rifles, one-shot gun and 911 different types of rounds.
Police arrested 319 criminals in Shaheed Benazirabad and recovered five Kalashnikovs, 50 repeaters, 12 rifles, 269 pistols and 1169 rounds.
Sukkur police detained 139 suspects and recovered six Kalashnikovs, 46 repeaters, five rifles, 137 pistols and 707 rounds from detainees.
Hyderabad police arrested a total 151 criminals and recovered two Kalashnikovs, one stand gun, 15 repeaters, two rifles, 137 pistols and 552 rounds.
Larkana police during operations detained 132 accused and recovered 11 Kalashnikovs, 56 repeaters, four rifles, 91 pistols, 10 hand grenades and 1166 different types of rounds for their possession.
Mirpurkhas police arrested 45 suspects and recovered one shot gun, 48 pistols and 192 rounds.
Inspector General of Police Sindh declared DIG Muzhar Nawaz Sheikh and SSP Tanveer Tunio as officers of the week at province level and announced Rs 200,000 cash reward for them in view of his best performance.
The IGP reviewed performance reports of all districts police level police of the province and expressed his satisfaction. He further directed police to launch an effective crackdown on criminals and their facilitators.
