KARACHI: As many as seven agents of a commission mafia who are allegedly involved in sending patients from government hospitals to private hospitals after getting commission from the private hospitals were arrested by police during raid at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) in the wee hours of Friday.
Sources at Civil Hospital Karachi said local police on tip-off conducted a raid on hospital and arrested seven agents of commission mafia who were involved in sending the visiting patients to some private sector healthcare centre for commission with the consent of hospital staff.
The gang had been involved in illegal activities in the hospital for long and the hospital administration had carried out many crackdowns on them but failed to nab them.
Sources said police arrested Shakoor, Orangzaib and five other suspects from the premises of the hospital over their alleged involvement in referring patients of CHK to private hospitals for getting commission.
The police shifted the suspected to unknown location for investigation.
It is an open secret that some private hospitals offer lucrative commission to their agents in the government hospitals for sending needy and affordable patients to them after misguiding them on different pretexts.
