Prayers for peace, unity urged

Karachi: Mrs Sadia Rashid, President, Hamdard Foundation Pakistan has said that today Pakistan needed peace and unity like never before and made an earnest appeal to the people of Pakistan to offer special prayers on Lailat al-Qadr, the holy night of 27th Ramazan, for the safety, solidarity, peace and unity of their homeland.

She further said that the blessed night called ‘Lailat al-Qadr‘ had special significance in the Islamic world as the night when the first verses of the Qur’an were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). But for Pakistanis it had an added significance, as    14th August 1947, when Pakistan came into being, was 27th Ramazan of 1366 Hijri.

She said that her father, Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said, was of the view that this was not mere coincidence, but the will of Allah that Pakistan should come into being on Lailat al-Qadr and have the special blessings of Allah, the Almighty.

Mrs Sadia Rashid made further appealed to the nation to celebrate 27th Ramazan as their independence and thanksgiving day, pray for the success, unity and solidarity of the country, and resolve to achieve its objectives.

‘In these troubled times, it is all the more essential to use the blessed moments of Lailat al-Qadr to invoke Allah’s guidance to our nation,’ she concluded.
