KARACHI: Engr Mohammad Adil Usman, President Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA) and Chancellor, Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET), performed the ground breaking ceremony of the great project “Sir Syed Tower”.
Members of AMUOBA and Executive Committee, including the distinguished guests from different walks of life, were present on the occasion. Sir Syed Tower is the great source of historical value as an academic and corporate hub for the promotion of intellectual, cultural and academic activities.
Addressing the ground breaking ceremony, Engr Usman said, “It was being planned for a long time to build Sir Syed Tower, but the work never started for one or the other reason. Fortunately, today construction work of the Tower is taking its start and this happiest moment is unforgettable for We Aligarians who always Endeavoured to follow the mission of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. We have successfully achieved our target because of our sincere efforts and dedication. It is like a dream that comes true.”
He said that they were starting the construction with their own funds and resources, and at the initial phase, and due to lack of funds only ground and first floors including two basements are being constructed. Yet Engr. Mohammad Adil Usman hoped that rich philanthropists will come forward and donate for this noble cause to complete the whole building of Sir Syed Tower. He also appealed to the aligarians to use their personal contacts and influence to obtain funds for the project.
Engr Usman pointed out that Sir Syed Tower is not being made to draw monetary or commercial benefits, yet its earnings will be utilized for the promotion of academic activities and formation of the education institutions.
