Provision of merit based jobs stressed


KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has asked cellular phone companies to provide merit based jobs to unemployed youth in the city.

He said this while talking to the representative officers of cellular phone companies at his office. Director Pakistan Telecommunication Association Karachi Syed Akhlaq Mosvi, Manager Mobilink Syed Muhammad Salman, Manager Warid Major (retd) Abdul Majeed, Syed Munawwar Ali from Zong, Regional Head South Telenor Lt Col (retd) Arif K Baig, Syed Nadeem from Ufone and Assistant Commissioner General Karachi Shahzaib Sheikh were also present on the occasion.

Siddiqui said that, in order to keep youth engaged and motivated towards positive activities, cooperation from corporate sector would be the best.

He stressed that, in order to groom abilities of youth of Karachi and to promote sports, corporate sector should establish a sports department.

“Steps would be taken to promote water sports also under the public-private partnership. Boatrace and fishing tournaments would be held for the youth of poor areas and coastal residents,” he said.

The delegation of cellular phone companies assured the commissioner to give jobs on merit and asked to be provided with a plan on corporate social responsibilities and said that cellular companies would fulfil their collective responsibilities.

The commissioner said that all the departments including mobile phone companies should work jointly to solve problems within and relation with administer officers should be strengthened. In case of any problem immediately contact relevant deputy commissioner and if the problem still persists then contact him.
