KARACHI: A high-level delegation of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) called on Director General Pakistan Rangers Sindh Major General Bilal Akbar at Rangers Headquarters on Thursday and discussed the issue of raid on the house of Resident Editor Nawa-i-Waqt Saeed Khawar.
The DG rangers directed for investigation into the incident forthwith. He excused that the incident took place due to wrong identification and clarified that Khawar was not involved in any illegal activity.
Major General Bilal Akbar expressed deep grief over the incident and asked the citizens to report any such inauspicious incident without any fear at Rangers’ Helpline 1101. He assured strict action would be taken against the officials who committed this mistake. The delegation was specially briefed about the ongoing Karachi operation as well.
The delegation comprised Senior Vice President CPNE Ilyas Shakir, Secretary General CPNE Dr Jabbar Khattak, Secretary Finance CPNE Major (retd) Hamid Hussain Abidi, Saeed Khawar, and others.
