KARACHI: IG Police Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali has directed Additional IG Karachi and all the DIGs to take extraordinary measures viewing prediction of Met Office about heavy rains.
He has cancelled leaves of all the police employees and ordered them to report to the relevant police stations, headquarters, districts and zones.
“All the supervising officers including SDPOs, SHOs, district SSPs should not leave the relevant areas/ police stations vacant,” he said.
Jamali said special measures should be taken for patrolling in the areas where water flood was expected including canal areas of Sindh. Coordination should be strengthened in this regard with Met Department, Irrigation Department, district administration, Pakistan Army, local units of Pakistan Rangers and welfare organizations.
“Extraordinary measures should be ensured to help rain-affected people, save their lives and properties and for their rehabilitation,” he said.
IGP Sindh said viewing requirement police hospitals of Karachi, Hyderabad and Thatta should be contacted for establishing medical camps in far-flung areas.
He said all the available resources should be brought into use for establishing peace and to control the situation. Rain-affected areas, law and order situation and other steps of police should be informed to Central Police Office through AIG operations room number 021-99213081, 021-99212064, and 021-99212065.
Jamali said the given directives should be implemented according to their spirits. No negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
