Rain, snowfall predicted from Monday to Wednesday
KARACHI: Met Office informed on Sunday that rain and snowfall is predicted from Monday to Wednesday in various parts of the country.
A westerly wave is likely to enter western parts of the country on Monday, which is likely to grip different parts on Tuesday and may persist till Wednesday,” it said.
The Met Office further informed that under the influence of this weather system, widespread rain-thunderstorm with few moderate to isolated heavy falls is expected in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan and Kohat divisions), Northeast Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions), Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Tuesday to Wednesday night. Snowfall over hills is also expected in Malakand division (Swat, Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba and upper Dir), Hazara division, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the period.
Rain-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Bannu, DI Khan divisions) and Punjab (Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, D G Khan and Sahiwal divisions) on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in Balochistan’s Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makran divisions on Monday and Tuesday while a light rain is also expected at isolated places in Upper Sindh’s Sukkur, Larkana divisions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country on Monday. However, rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in Quetta, Kalat, Zhob, Makran, Malakand divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan. It is also predicted at isolated places in Hazara and Kohat divisions.
During the past 24 hours, weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country.
Today’s lowest minimum temperatures are as Skardu 10°C, Kalam, Gupis, Bagrote 08°C, Astore 06°C, Malamjabba 05°C, Hunza, Parachinar 04°C, Murree, Rawalakot 03°C, Mirkhani 02°C, Dir, Drosh and Gilgit 01°C.
