Rally planned to mark Nakba Day


KARACHI: Civil society activists, trade unionists have expressed solidarity with Palestinian cause and decided to join a rally to mark the Nakba Day (Day of the Catastrophe for Palestinians) at Karachi Press Club on 14th May, 2015 at 04:00 p.m.

This rally is part of a week long campaign for the Palestinians.

This was decided a consultation meeting held at the Karachi office of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on Monday.

Representatives of other organizations like Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER), Palestinian Foundation, PIA Skyways, Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum, Pakistan-India Peoples Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD), Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC), Muttahida Labour Federation of Pakistan (MLFP), Society for Secular Pakistan (SFSP) and others attended the meeting and showed solidarity with Palestinians.

Nakba Day is observed all around the world to commemorate the displacement and dispossession of hundreds of thousands of Palestinian Arabs from their homes in the 1948 war that established the state of Israel. Today millions of Palestinian refugees and their descendents live in Gaza, in West Bank camps, in Lebanon, Syria and other parts of the world.
