KARACHI: Colonel Tahir Naveed of Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Tuesday claimed to have arrested 3,000 criminals during one year operation in Karachi and recovered 1,400 illegal weapons and 11,000 wine bottles.
Addressing a press conference at Pakistan Rangers headquarter 93 wing at People’s Football Stadium Lyari, he said that during one-year operation against criminals, Pakistan Rangers Sindh arrested 3000 criminals including terrorists, target killers, kidnapers, street criminals and others. He said that they however released 3000 suspects after investigation.
He said Pakistan Rangers recovered 11,000 wine bottles in different actions, which were destroyed after the competition of legal formalities.
He said during the Karachi operation, 24 Rangers personnel were martyred and 200 others injured. “Pakistan Rangers Special Task Cell received 200 complaints of target killings, kidnappings, extortions and others after the ranger actions, 175 complaints were resolved,” Tahir.
He said that citizens should submit their complains on helpline number 1101 and if they know about any suspect person anwhere, they should inform the helpline. “The name of the informer will be kept secret,” he assured.
Tahir appealed to the citizens to play their due role for eliminating terrorism and said that citizens should trust in Pakistan Rangers Sindh. He said that Lyari would become peaceful area with Pakistan Rangers efforts.
He said: “We have contacted the administrations of private schools for providing security to the school children.
Public Relations Officer Rangers Major Mohammad Sabtain and Sohail were also present on the occasion.
