Karachi: The Director General PDMA Sindh Salman Shah has informed today that the relief activities in the drought hit districts of Tharparkar have entered in 17th day while relief activities in Sanghar, Umerkot and Khairpur districts are also operational since more than 5 days.
Talking to media at his office the DG , PDMA Sindh said that to date 47,089 people in Tharparkar, 15,368 in Umerkot, 8,427 persons in Sanghar and 11,449 persons in Khairpur have been treated in various fixed and mobile hospitals. He said that the Government is also paying attention to the treatment of animals and to date 2,568,800 cattle heads in Tharparkar, 164,420 in Umerkot, 80,131 in Sanghar and 62,819 cattle heads in Khairpur have been treated/ vaccinated.
He further informed that the drought affectees are given free of cost wheat bags and so far, 206,732 families in Tharparkar, 1676 families in Sanghar and 2872 families in Umerkot have been provided 50 Kg Wheat bags. He said that the family ration bags are also being provided to the drought affectees to augment the relief efforts and today PDMA Sindh has dispatched 2000 family ration bags to District Sanghar and 1000 family ration bags to District Umerkot.
