KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Saturday has given three days’ time to all the advertisement firms to remove the billboards installed in violation of prescribed rules, after Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhter Farooqui gave directions in this regard.
Farooqui directed the senior director local taxes (advertisement) to take action against all the advertisement firms who had installed billboards in violation of rules and regulations.
He said that complaints were being received that hoardings installed by some advertising agencies were dangerous as they could fall down during heavy monsoon rains.
Farooqui said the local taxes department must therefore conduct a survey without delay and compile a report on the installation of these advertising boards after that action should be taken against the advertisers and the hoardings be removed immediately.
The administrator said improper and inappropriate hoardings were not only dangerous for citizens but also putting adverse effect on the beauty of city and left bad impact on the visitors.
Meanwhile, KMC has informed to all the advertisers to remove all such hoardings or make them in accordance with the rules and regulations within three days.
“The billboards that have become dangerous due to having weak structure or were in very bad condition or those which had been installed by violating the prescribed size and design and placement of the hoardings, the local taxes department will have the right to cancel or seize all such boards,” said KMC.
