KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said prime minister of Pakistan’s announcement about restoration of international cricket was good news for Karachiites. International sport activities in Karachi would soften the image of the city across the world.
“Sport is effective mean of connection among common men, the government and institutions. Sport activities could bolster peace, tolerance, brotherhood and develop love in the city,” he said while addressing a monthly review meeting of Divisional Sports Committee (DSC) held at his office.
Director Local Government & focal person DSC Ms Rubina Asif, Director Sports South Asif Azeem, Sports Advisor National Bank of Pakistan Ghulam Muhammed Khan, Chairman Pakistan Youth Sports Syed Khurram Arif, General Secretary Sindh Boxing Association Muhammed Asghar Baloch, Secretary Pakistan Tennis Federation Muhammed Khalid Rehmani, Sports Consultant Sindh Sports Board Musheer Rabbani, Deputy Director Sports Department Sindh Shehzad Pervez, Secretary Sindh Olympic Association Ahmed Ali Rajput and representatives of Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), Pakistan Railways and DHA were also present on the occasion.
The commissioner said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team had taken with them message of peace and love from Sindh by winning Pentangular Cricket Tournament.
The meeting was informed that BIEK had started sport activities. Railway Stadium would be rehabilitated to promote games.
“Where there will be sports, there will be peace, there will be industrial, trade and economic development, chances of new jobs and prosperity,” Siddiqui said.
