KARACHI: Managing Director Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi on Wednesday said revenue deficiency was affecting water supply to citizens, while many organizations owed millions of rupees to the water board.
KWSB is providing water to the most populous city of Pakistan within its limited resources,†he said while addressing a meeting with the delegation of Pakistan Tanneries Association (PTA).
Vice President PTA Saddar Zone Aamir Majeed and Secretary PTA Saddar Zone Abdul Majeed Bhatti and other PTA officials were present.
MD KWSB told the delegation that Rs90m arrears were on PTA which PTA members and officials should immediately payback so that KWSB could become strong and stable.
The delegation complained that PTA had not been getting required water for the last 12 years despite chief minister of Sindh’s prescribed quota.
Zaidi asked them to assure paying the arrears and next water & sewerage bills on time. The delegation invited him for visiting the industrial units of PTA.
MD KWSB said water could not be provided to industries according to their requirement due to non-provision of 100 mgd water through Hub Dam, interruption in electricity supply to five important pumping stations and the lack of ability of old pumps.
