Karachi: The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Shaharyar Khan said that a recent interview has misinterpreted his views on PSL.
“I have just had an update from the PSL secretariat and I am very happy with the progress they are making. I have full confidence in the PSL being successfully organized outside Pakistan. I am sure that all issues will be successfully dealt by our PSL secretariat,” Shaharyar was quoted as saying in a PCB media release.
He said that a recent interview had misinterpreted his views on PSL. His interview, published in a section of media, Shaharyar was categorically quoted as saying that chances of organizing PSL in February 2016 was low due to unavailability of grounds UAE during that period.
Shaharyar was also quoted as saying that the tournament should be held in Pakistan no matter star foreign cricketers participate in it or not. “If we conduct the first tournament here, it will pave the way for a bigger event next year. Foreign players, who are short of money, would still come,” he was quoted as saying.
But in PCB media release, Shaharyar took a u-turn and was quoted as saying that Pakistan’s security situation should be kept in mind when inviting so many foreign players and then guaranteeing security for five different teams all at one point in time.
“The UAE has been an excellent host but just because they are not making their grounds available, we cannot sit back and delay the PSL,” he said.
“PCB has created an FTP window for the PSL and we can’t afford to keep letting the window slip by. We have a dedicated team in place, and we have engaged world renowned consultants to get this rolling. I am excited by the prospect of PSL and I wish our team led by the PCB Executive Committee all the best for this endeavour,” he added in the release.
