KARACHI:,,, The spokesman of Culture Department Sindh on Wednesday said that Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Culture and Tourism Ms Sharmila Faruqui did not use any abusive or biased language against any artist, writer or scholar of Sindhi Adabi Sangat as some local newspapers were miscoding her remarks.
In a statement, the spokesman clarified that Sharmila’s press conference was very clear and on the record in which she said that few elements are blackmailing culture department regarding endowment fund issue, not representatives of Sindhi Adabi Sangat.
Sharmila Faruqui and culture department always respect and care the artists and writers of Sindh without any discrimination of caste and creed. She is serving and dealings the matter of artists welfare in more transparent and improved manner than ever earlier, the spokesman added.
“Moreover, neither the minister, nor the culture department rejected any application of endowment fund. These decisions are taken by endowment fund committee with consensus of all members, and the committee consists on prominent Sindhi and Urdu writers, actors and scholars. Minister Sharmila Faruqui and culture department has no interference in this whole process,” the spokesman clarified.
The system of endowment fund is misunderstood by applicants and badly penned by few local newspapers.
The spokesman said some miscreants are fuelling into fire to exaggerate the conflicts between Sharmila Faruqui and Sindhi Adabi Sangat.
“Sindhi Adabi Sangat is consisting of notable artists, writers and poets, Sharmila Faruqui can’t even think to abuse or insult them, and they should not become a part of any conspiracy or propaganda,” the spokesman concluded.
