KARACHI: Special Assistant to CM Sindh for Culture and Tourism, Ms Sharmila Faruqui, has taken serious notice of the news published in Daily Sindh newspaper regarding theft of sand from protective bund of world heritage site of Moen Jo Daro.
Culture department wrote a letter to commissioner Larkana, and demanded strict action and lodging of FIR against responsible persons and policemen involved in this criminal activity that caused serious threat to precious heritage site of Sindh and made it vulnerable. It is also asked to depute responsible officer to inspect the site, record the statement of people and submit the report as soon as possible.
Faruqui said that Moen Jo Daro has a great significance for Sindhi culture which has been declared world heritage site by UNESCO since 1980. Happening of such acts will bring bad name to administration as well as Pakistan. It is our core responsibility to protect and preserve the treasure of land, she said.
