SHC CJ criticizes NAB IO’s performance
KARACHI:Chief Justice of Sindh High Court (SHC) Ahmed Ali Shaikh on Tuesday expressed annoyance at the performance of Investigation Officer (IO) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a case pertaining to the construction of Ahsanabad Society on the basis of fake documents.
A SHC bench, headed by CJ Shaikh, heard the bail plea of two accused Zulfiqar and Majeed and granted them bail against the surety of Rs1 million. The bench expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of NAB IO. CJ questioned: “Since when you have become IO, what is your education”? The IO replied that he became IO in 2017.
The bench lashed out at NAB IO and remarked that you became IO in 2017 so what you know about law. “Even you do not know the judgment of Sindh High Court,” SHC CJ remarked. The court also lashed out at NAB prosecutor Riaz Alam in the case. “Still you (IO) are a child, arguments would be given by man standing with you,” the CJ remarked. The bench directed the NAB IO to conduct impartial investigation into the case.
