KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the provincial home secretary, the director general of Rangers, Sindh police chief and others on several petitions challenging alleged unlawful detention of citizens.
Headed by Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar a division bench also issued notice to federal and provincial law officer to ensure filing of the comments by respondents by July 30.
Petitioners, relatives of the detainees submitted that the Rangers personnel had taken into custody Anis Ahmed Khan, Mohsin -ur-Rehman, Imran Hameed, Babar-uddin, and Mohammad Salmanuddin; however, till date their whereabouts were not disclosed.
They stated that they had written several applications to the Rangers officers and higher officials of the other law enforcement agencies for disclosing the whereabouts of the detainees but no clue was given.
Neither did they provide information about them nor produce them in court which is violation of the fundamental rights, they contended while pleading with the court to order the law enforcers to produce them in court.
