KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notice to chief secretary Sindh, secretary Livestock & Fisheries Department and other official respondents to submit their respective replies on a petition seeking to revert the OPS officials back to original position in Livestock & Fisheries Department.
The petitioners, Dr Ghulam Shabbir Shar, deputy director Poultry Research Diagnostic Lab Sukkur, Dr Shadi Khan Shahani and other employees of Livestock & Fisheries Department submitted in their petition that injustice was being meted out to them as since their appointments they were not promoted to next rank.
They said that since long time meeting of departmental promotion committee (DPC) was not held to promote the deserving employees. Provincial authorities in order to fill higher posts have appointed persons of their choice on own pay scale (OPS) basis, which was sheer violation of the judgment of apex court, they added.
Despite orders of the Supreme Court, junior officers were appointed on higher posts on OPS basis and they were given additional charges, the petitioners said while requesting the court to order authorities to repatriate OPS officials back to their original position, and direct the authorities to consider them (the petitioners) for promotion.
After hearing initial arguments, a division bench headed by Justice Irfan Saddat Khan issued notice to respondents and advocate general Sindh. The hearing of case was put off till June 16.
