KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday ordered Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to carry out fresh delimitations of five provincial and two national assembly constituencies in Naushehro Feroze district within a month.
A division bench headed by Justice Irfan Saddat Khan while disposing of contempt of court application, directed ECP to carry out delimitations after hearing petitioner’s objections to delimitations.
Petitioner Mureed Ali Shah had filed a contempt of court application seeking contempt proceedings against ECP officials for flouting the court orders. He submitted that ECP committee on delimitations only submitted proposals but did not notify delimitations officially.
He said that committee heard the public and representatives of political parties but turned a deaf ear to objection raised by him, therefore, he requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against ECP officials for flouting court orders.
