SHC restrains illegal action against cable operator

KARACHI: A division bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) has restrained paramilitary force from taking any action contrary to law against a cable operator.

Muhammad Naveed, resident of Qayyumabad, a neighbourhood of Karachi has taken Director General Rangers, IG Sindh, Home Secretary and other officials of law enforcement agencies to the court, requesting it to restrain them from harassing him.

He stated that since he started cable network business in Qayyumabad rangers officials belonging to Asghar Wing 72 were harassing him as they have raided his house twice and took away him and his brother.

He said that paramilitary force picked up him and his brother on May 03, and handed over to SHO of Mehmoodabad police station, who released him and his brother after taking bribe. The petitioner submitted that he was also nominated in false cases relating to possession of illegal weapons.

However, rangers officials rejected the allegations of petitioner stating that he was required in number of cases and whenever, attempts for his arrest are made, he managed to elude the rangers’ officials.
