KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday asked provincial law officer to summon focal person of health department to appear before it and file reply on a petition of District Bar Association Malir calling for free medical treatment for over 31000 advocates of the province in the government hospitals.
The petitioner, Muhammad Ashraf Samo, president of District Bar Association Malir, submitted in the petition that majority of the advocates were poor and unable to bear the treatment expenses; hence, they could not get proper treatment along with their families.
He said that Sindh government had issued a notification for free medical facilities to the advocates and their families at the government hospitals but they were being denied such facilities.
He requested the court to order implementation of notification regarding free healthcare to advocates by authorities concerned and provision of free treatment to all advocates in the province.
