KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday sought comments from home secretary, provincial police chief and other police officials on a petition seeking fresh investigation into murder of a man allegedly killed in name of so-called honour killing.
The petitioner, Zareena Bibi, submitted before the court that her son Muhammad Salman was killed for allegedly having illicit relationship with a woman on 21st September 2013 within jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police station and FIR 779/2013 under section 302/34 was registered at police station concerned.
She told the judges that police had arrested the accused person involved in murder of his son but later they were released by police after taking bribe. She said that investigation officer of the case had spoiled the case at the instances of accused.
She requested the court to order re-investigation into the murder of his son by an honest police officer. After hearing preliminary arguments, a division bench headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh issued notice to respondents and adjourned the hearing of case till April 17.
The bench also directed IO of the case to appear before it along with relevant record of the murder case.
