Sindh assembly greets street children footballers


Karachi: Sindh Assembly here Tuesday greeted the members of Pakistan street children football them that recently won the bronze medical in world street children football championship held in Brazil.

The session of Sindh assembly was held one hour and 35 minutes late than its scheduled time of 10:00am with speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in chair. The house warmly welcomed the members of Pakistan street children football team. The young soccer players witnessed the Sindh Assembly proceedings. They were congratulated by the house for winning the bronze medal in the World Cup in Brazil.

Total 24 members spoke and congratulated the team. Minister for Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon on behalf of Sindh Government announced reward of Rs0.2mn for each player and construction of a football stadium for them. Sindh Education Minister Nisar Khuhro announced free education to all players till post graduation. PTI’s Khurram Sher Zaman announced Rs10,000 for each child in his personal capacity. PPP’s Mir Mumtaz Khan Jakhrani announced Rs0.5mn for the team.

While welcoming and congratulating the team and announcements made by the government, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) member Nusrat Seher Abbasi said that may these announcements should be fulfilled and advised the government to hold a ceremony to hand over the cheques to the team players in front of the members.

The house passed a resolution moved by Saifuddin Khalid, which asked the Sindh government equip all the Government Hospitals with latest medical technology/ necessary lifesaving drugs/ fully equipped labs to provide basic health facilities to the people in the Province.

PML-F parliamentary leader tabled a resolution demanding that problems faced by citizens of Sanghar due to low pressure of Sui gas should be resolved. The house adopted the resolution.

On assurance of the concerned minister out of the house, Shafi Muhammad Jamote withdraws his privilege motion No. 04 of 2014 regarding the Minister of Fisheries’ statement that no fee charged for licenses issued to fisherman.

In the end, National Anthem was played in the house. Later, the chair adjourned the house till Friday at 10 AM.
