KARACHI: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) on Wednesday decided to start short courses having one-month duration for its all students from August 3 to August 31st 2015. These would be compulsory for all students.
This was decided in a meeting of Deans and Chairperson of SMIU chaired by Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh, Vice Chancellor SMIU on Wednesday at the Conference Room of the university.
While speaking in the meeting, Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh said that the courses would be about moral and ethical values, ideals of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Business Communication, English communication skills, computer science, environment, media, presentation skills, marketing and public speaking skills.
“Through these training and grooming sessions, the SMIU students would be given knowledge different to their classroom learning,” Dr Shaikh said and added that the students must be given knowledge related to their practical life and provide them an opportunity to enhance their skills that will support them in their academic career as well as in their future life.”
He further said our new generation must follow Father of the Nation Quaid –e- Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s ideals, which must be introduced with SMIU’s moral and ethical traditions.
Earlier another meeting with the staff of Department of Examination was held with Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh in the chair. At the meeting, Examination Department’s performance was reviewed in detail, and decisions were taken to reorganize it.
