KARACHI: The contract employees of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Sobhraj Maternity Hospital have not been paid salaries for last three months, sources at Sobhrja Hospital told PPI on Saturday.
Sources said contract employees who are working in different departments of Sobhraj Maternity Hospital have been deprived from their three-month salaries. They said employees are facing great hardships as KMC is yet to release their salaries past three months despite several requests.
These employees were hired in 2010 on contract basis by Karachi Municipal Corporation and later they were transferred to KMC health department. Since the joining of their duties they are working on fixed salaries. The KMC administration has not regularized their posts as yet due to its financial crisis.
The employees said they have already contacted with Director Health & Medical Services KMC for regularization and early release of their three-month salaries but to no avail.
Director Health & Medical Services, KMC, Dr Salma Ali Kausar when contacted said the contracts of these employees have already been expired and administration has sent a request to KMC for renewal of their contracts. She said these employees will get pending salaries soon.
