Sound sleep, exercise help to reduce mental illness

Karachi: Neurologist Dr. Naseem Akhter has said that sound sleep, exercise and lifestyle change can reduce the risk of mental illness.

He was speaking to a Youth Health Awareness Programs on “Mental Health.” He said prevalence of mental disorders in Pakistan is dangerous and there is a need to check this trend through raising awareness

Youth Department of Sindh has held health awareness programs on mental health in Karachi, Sajawal, Thatta, Hyderabad, Tando Bago and other cities.

Project Director Saleem Ahmed Siddiqui and Coordinator Ms. Zakia also spoke and stressed on stopping smoking and increasing physical activities. They said prayers and meditation also provide relaxation to mind.
