Special Olympics: Special athletes to be rewarded next month

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah will distribute cash rewards among sixteen special athletes and four coaches belonging to the Province Sindh, who won medals during the inaugural Asia Pacific Games, held at New Castle in Australia last year.

Sindh Olympics Pakistan (SOP) will also receive grant in order to continue their endeavours. Around 2500 special athletes from 27 countries of the region participated in the prestigious event.

A total of 57 special athletes from across the country participated in the Games and brought an impressive tally of 51 medals, which included 23 gold medals. Sixteen special athletes were from Sindh.

Saeed Ahmed, Chairman SOP and Mrs. Ronal Lakhani, Secretary SOP thanked Chief Minster Sindh and also Senator Taj Haider who helped SOP in getting the approval from Chief Minster Sindh to hold a ceremony to honour special athletes and reward them with cash prizes. The ceremony will be held in the first week of July at CM House.
