Sports: Athletics: Pak athletes off for Taipei City for Asian Championship


Karachi: A total of Pakistani athletes will participate in the 16th Asian Junior Athletics Championship, which will be held from June 12-15 at Taipei City in Chinese Taipei.

The five athletes namely Muhammad Waqas, Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Afzal, Wajid Ali and Muhammad Shahbaz have left for the host city on Monday along with Brig Ghulam Jilani, Senior Vice President of Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP), who is accompanying the team as team leader.

Jilani, before leaving for the Taipei City, said that the athletes will get some time to accustom themselves with the weather of the host city.

“We are leaving for the championship few days before it begins in order to accustom our boys with the condition there and they get some practice also,” he4 said.

He added that the players are in good form and they will be looking for medals in the tournament.
