Sports: Cricket: Model CC, Malir Companion CC win in cricket tourney


Karachi: Model Cricket Club recorded a convincing 80-run victory against Sindh Rana Cricket and Malir Companion Cricket Club thrashed Comrade Sports by 65 runs and reached the quarterfinals of Omar Associates Trophy KCCA Zone IV Color Kit Cricket Tournament.

At Bright Cricket Ground, Model Cricket Club put on board 186-9 in 30 overs. Suleman Ghani batted well for the side and scored 50 runs. Mohammad Orangzaib bowled lethally and captured a seven-wicket haul.

In reply, Sindh Rana CC’s batsmen were all bowled out for a paltry total of 106-10 in 24.1 overs. Kashif Ahmed top scored for the side with 33 runs. Shoaib Mohammad captured four wickets for the winners.

Meanwhile, at CAA Stadium, Malir Companion Cricket batted first and scored 239-9 in 35 overs. Yasir Munir (60 runs), Adeel Khan (47 runs) and Ibrahim Ali (42 runs) batted well for the side. Talha Zia grabbed four wickets while Faizan Ahmed took three wickets.

In reply, Comrade Sports lost all of their wickets for 174 runs in 29.5 overs. Mohammad Danyal was the top scorer for the side with 31 runs. Rafay Malik bowled lethally and captured four wickets.
