Karachi: Pakistan’s pace bowler Sohail Tanveer has said that Pakistan will have an effective fast bowling attack when the team will feature in World Cup 2015 Down Under.
“The pitches will not be batsmen friendly in Australia and New Zealand as it is here (National Stadium) and as it was in UAE,” Sohail Tanveer told reporters.
“We have good variations in fast bowling department. Junaid Khan is bowling well; Mohammad Irfan had such a good bounce in UAE, I believe he will be unplayable in Australia and New Zealand; Wahab (Riaz) pace will also count and hopefully if I will make it to the World Cup squad, I will also be able to make the most of the pitches there,” Sohail said.
Sohail is representing Federal United in the ongoing Pentangular Cup and has not been able to perform up to the mark.
“I don’t believe performance in Pentangular Cup will be the only criteria selectors would follow. I have been with the team in UAE and put some good show there. Moreover, selectors will also have to take into account the condition in Australia and New Zealand. So I am hopeful to be selected in the final squad,” Sohail said adamantly.
He further said that he is completely fit and has bowled 20 overs and fielded in 100 overs during the last two days. “I have played both back to back matches and has also bowled twenty overs. It is all in front of you,” Sohail said.
