Sports: Cricket: Super Gymkhana clinches cricket tourney title


Karachi: Super Gymkhana recorded a convincing four-wicket triumph against Pak Mujahid Cricket Club in the final All-Karachi Vetex Fun Festival Cricket Tournament here at Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Ground.

Pak Mujahid CC batted first and put on board 222-8 in 30 overs. Nabeel Zahid top scored for the side with 39 off 26 balls. Ahsan Bagha and Umair played an unbeaten 37-run knock each. Nabeel Akhtar captured three wickets while Mohammad Saeed and Ashiq Ali took two wickets each.

In reply, Super Gymkhana achieved the target with three wickets in hand in 29.2 overs. Mohammad Sheraz smashed four sixes and as many boundaries in his 86 runs knock. Saqib Ahsan hammered unbeaten 69 runs off only 30 balls with the help of six towering sixes and two fours.

Pakistan cricketer Younis Khan was chief guest on the occasion and he distributed prizes among the players.
