Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Siddiqui praised the organizers of the inaugural Introduction and Coaching Course for Deaf Children and added more such courses should be organized in order to promote sports among special people.
The two-day course, organized by Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP), concluded on Thursday here at Park for Special People in Clifton.
“This is for the first time that a coaching course is organized for deaf players which I believe is a very good thing and a big achievement for SFP,” Shoaib Siddiqui, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said.
“Such courses will help promote the game among deaf children. In this way, these players will be attracted towards healthy activities,” he added.
Shoaib also praised SFP and especially softball head coach Asif Azeem for spearheading such events.
“I see great courage among these participants and they are not in any way less important than anyone else. I hope these participants will have benefitted by this course and in future excel in the sport and bring laurels for the country,” he said.
Shoaib further said that the time has come that all sports to be given importance so that athletes would be able to bring Pakistan’s past glory in sports.
More than seventy players participated in the course. They were taught about basic knowledge, technical aspects of the sport and the way to play softball.
At the end, Shoaib distributed certificates to the participants. SFP Vice President Mohammad Hussain Khan, Asif Azeem, Sindh Sports Board Consultant Mushir Rabbani and President JS Academy for the Deaf Laila Dosa were also present on the occasion.
