Karachi: Army (Red) taekwondo team clinched inaugural DG Rangers Sindh National Taekwondo Championship after winning most number of medals in the event, which concluded here at Rangers Training Centre and School.
Army (Red) won 29 gold from a total of 33 events and also two silver and as many bronze medals. With these impressive results, the red team of the Army accumulated a total of 797 points to claim the top position. With the title triumph, the team received a cash reward of Rs 175,000. Another team of Army – Army (Blue) occupied lowly ninth position at the end of the tournament.
The closest rival to Army (Red) had been Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa team, who accumulated a total of 236 points to secure second place on the podium. They received a cash reward of Rs 100,000.
HEC secured 218 points and claimed third position and also a cash prize of Rs 75,000. Sindh team secure fourth place.
It is worth-mentioning that six international referees duly qualified from World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) conducted this tournament.
