Karachi: Like Karachi, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has planned to establish Landfill Site and Garbage Transfer Stations in Hyderabad to ensure better environment.
Speaking at a meeting presided over by Commissioner Syed Asif Hyder Shah on Thursday in Hyderabad, SSWMB’s Executive Director Mohammad Aslam Khoso briefed the meeting and said that to ensure healthy environment, SSWMB had worked out to Landfill Site and Garbage Transfer Stations in different parts of the city.
SSWMB’s Managing Director Roshan Ali Sheikh, Secretary Dr Mir Nusrat and Deputy Director Operation Hyderabad Anees Qadir Mangi were also present in the meeting.
The commissioner appreciated SSWMB’s plan for better environment where he advised to extend this campaign across the Sindh; however, he directed to assistant commissioners to find out the grounds for Garbage Transfer Stations in Qasimabad and Landfill Site in Ganju Taker as per SSWMB’s demand for their projects.
Khosa demanded 200 to 400 acres of land in Gangu Takar for landfill site and two acres for each Garbage Transfer Station in Qasimabad.
He said considering the healthy life in these areas, green grass will be planted to ensure healthy environment.
On this occasion, Roshan Ali Sheikh also informed the meeting that on special directives of Sindh government, department was busy to widen these projects in the province to provide pollution-free environment to the people.
