KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Saturday said police have played an important role in eradicating crimes and with their better performance the opinion of citizens, media and scholars was getting positive in their favor.
“The confidence of masses on police is growing. Their passion of service should be encouraged at every level,” he said while addressing an award distributing event in recognition of the services of police to protect citizens organized by All Pakistan Security Agencies Association (APSAA).
Additional IG Police Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo, Vice President the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muhammed Waseem Vohra and Chairman APSAA Major (r) Muneer Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
Siddiqui distributed awards among the police officers. He said the success stories of police needed to be highlighted as they had played a key role in restoring peace in the city.
“Police perform their duties in difficult times. They have sacrificed their lives to protect citizens’ and created a feeling of protection among people. The acknowledgement of their services required that their social welfare should be taken care of,” he said.
The additional IGP said that police was taking measures to root out crimes. Consequently, the crimes of bank robberies, kidnapping for ransom, car theft and extortion had reduced.
“All the criminals in Edhi case have been arrested and complete recovery has been made,” he said.
Thebo said police had committed for establishing complete peace in the city by eliminating evils from the society. He further said that citizen police centers would be established in all the districts to set up a system for complaint resolution against police.
