Tajir Ittehad warns protest against flour shortage


KARACHI: Chairman All Karachi Tajir Ittehad Atiq Mir on Tuesday showed grave concerns over increasing shortage of wheat flour in Karachi and said that Sind Food Minister want to create Tharparkar-like situation in the city.

Talking to a delegation, which met him at his office and headed by Karachi Retail Grocers Alliance President Ansar Baig Qadri, he said that ban on free transportation of wheat in Sindh under section 144 was totally unfair as there was no such ban in other provinces.

He said that some bakers bad started using the situation for profiting by increasing prices of their products while milk sellers were also receiving additional price and justify it by increase in price of cattle heads feeds.

He warned Sindh government that if it does not stop stepmother-like behaviour with Karachi, the citizen would come on streets.

Flour traders Javid Aslam, Siraj Ahmad, Haji Bashir, Murli Chund, Shahabuddin, Shahid Ali, Fareediddin, and Haji Nazeer Ahmad were also present.
