Karachi: Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) Secretary Asif Azeem on Tuesday said that talented players of the country will be sent abroad to further nurture their game later this year.
“Talented players who will perform well in the local tournaments will be sent abroad to help them polish their talent,” Asif said during a kit and equipment distribution ceremony for Sindh team and officials, who will be participating in the upcoming National Women Softball Championship, which will be held in Quetta.
He added that along with the government departments, private sector has also come forward to support the game of softball, which is a good omen for the promotion of the sport in the country.
He thanked Secretary Sports Sindh Mohammad Rashid, Administrator DMC South, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) KCSR Department Head Owais Asad Khan, Essa Laboratories CEO Farhan Essa and Sindh Softball Association (SSA) President Jahangir Mughal for sponsoring the national tournament.
Asif said that SFP has been making efforts to invite foreign coaches and umpires and hold refresher courses for outstanding players and officials.
“It will help our players and officials to learn new techniques and rules of contemporary softball,” he added.
He further said that to promote the game from grass-root level and lift talent of young players, an All-Karachi Inter-School Softball Tournament will be organized in collaboration with Essa Laboratories.
