TDAP to boost trade with neighbouring countries: Muneer


KARACHI: Chief Executive, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), SM Muneer, said that we were reviewing the hindrances in trade and would take every possible step to remove them.

“Policy for expediting trade volume with the neighbouring countries is included in the preferences of the government for which TDAP will play an important role,” he said this while speaking at a dinner hosted by Kaleem Siddiqui, Shabbir Ahmed and Tariq Rafi in his honour on Sunday night.

President All Karachi Industrial Alliance Mian Zahid Hussain, Khalid Tawab, President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry Aamir Abdullah Zaki, Ikhlaq Memon, Arif Habib, Yahya Polani, Muneer Sultan, Mohammad Zubair Chhaya, Farhan-ur-Rehman were also present.

He said that for increasing the exports of Pakistan, dialogues would be held at every level with the neighbouring countries and hindrances would be removed. He said that Ministry of Commerce is reviewing the trade strategy of Pakistan so that our efforts could be focused on those lines where demands of Pakistani products exist.

SM Muneer said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was trying to resolve the challenges being faced by country including energy crises and the results would be on the table soon for economic growth of the country, therefore, business community should concentrate on value addition so that exports volume would be increased.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that Pakistan was moving towards economic growth and era of prosperity would soon come. “The results of positive policies of the government have been seen and confidence of local and foreign investors is being increased,” he added.

He congratulated the government for issuing Euro Bond in international market and said that Pakistan had regained its goodwill in international market due to issuance of Euro Bond after seven years. “Increase in index of Karachi Stock Exchange, Reserves of the country and improvement beside increase in value of Pakistani rupees are also witnessed of the same,” He added.

Khalid Tawab said that confidence of the businessmen on government had increased due to determine, correct direction and trade activities. He said that government should take steps to reduce cost of production by forming long-term and short-term policies so that export activities could be further increased.
