Teacher never retires, says KU VC

KARACHI: University of Karachi’s Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Qaiser said on Thursday that a teacher never retires as the society gets benefit from their contributions forever.

Teachers are the role model of the students who wish to excel in the field of research and scholarly work, and play a greater role in achieving academic excellence, VC said while addressing Academic Reference organized in the honour of the academic and scholarly services of the retiring teachers of Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr Kaleem Raza Khan, Prof Shama Habib and Prof Dr Zahoor ul Hasan Babar at Consul Room of Dean Faculty of Social Science, KU.

Dr Qaiser said that an academic career of every teacher after joining this great profession comes to an end for sure one day but only few teachers are so much dedicated and honest that their golden period of academic career is remembered forever.

VC invited new teachers to contribute their experiences to their institute adding that gates of University of Karachi are always open for teachers who are a great asset to our institutions. He appreciated that organizing of Academic Reference in the honour of retiring teachers for the first time in the Faculty of Social Sciences is highly commendable and this thing will prevail.

Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr Moonis Ahmar said that retirement does not mean that you are discharged from your services, as this process of transfer of knowledge and academic discourse must continue even after retirement.
