Teachers demand rebate facility

Karachi: NED University Teachers Association (NETA) President and executive member of Federation of All Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) Prof Dr Syed Usman Ali Shah and Dr Mohammad Imran Aslam, general secretary NETA demanded of the government on Thursday to restore 75% rebate on income tax for teaching faculty and researchers in upcoming budget (2015-16).

Dr Usman told PPI that teachers and researchers are being facilitated throughout the world by respective authorities. He regretted that teaching community is being neglected in our country and their facilities are being reduced.

In the last budget (2014-15), however Sindh government reduced the tax rebate being given to faculty and researchers thereby increasing the problems for faculty.

They demanded from Sindh government to restore the original tax rebate of 75% were being given to faculty and researchers since 2001.

The restoration of the tax rebate will not only reduce the financial burden of the faculty but also motivate them to actively participate in the research activities, they added.
