KARACHI: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Zone Syed Pir Muhammad Shah on Sunday claimed to have arrested 10 criminals, including three robbers, involved in committing robbery of safe deposit boxes from a private bank in Solider Bazaar.
Addressing a press conference in his office, he claimed that three dacoits Muhammad Ali, son of Bhadur Khan; Shakeel Ahmed, son of Mushtaq Ahmed; and Kashif Mehmood, son of Maqsood Ahmed, were arrested from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that the arrested accused were involved in the robbery of safe deposit boxes of a private bank in Solider Bazaar on 5th April 2014.
Shah said that accused Muhammad Ali confessed that Rs 7,500,000 out of robbery booty had come to his share, and from that money he bought a car worth Rs 2,200,000 and others deposited in the bank, SSP Said.
He said that further investigation was underway and absconding accused would be arrested soon. He said that the names of their accomplices – Malik Razzaq Ahmed, Shah Wali, Mehmood Shah, Shahid Afridi, and Tahira, daughter of Mushtaq Ahmed, – have been included in Exit Control List (ECL).
SSP said that police also arrested a dacoits’ gang of Adnan Alam alias Bila, son of Bashir Uddin; Ali Ahmed alias Bablo, son of Aleemuddin; Muhammad Farhan, son of Charagh Din; and Nadeem Hussain alias Premi, son of Abdul Hafeez, in Malir.
He said that they were involved in several robberies attempts in the houses and street crime activities in the city.
He said that Ali Ahmed confessed to shooting and injuring a man Habibullah during a robbery attempt in Gulshan-e-Maymar. Four pistols with bullets were also recovered from the possession of the arrested robbers, SSP said.
He said police arrested an alleged target killer Syed Hussain Mehdi alias Imran Bhori, son of Syed Wizarat Hussain Bilgrami, from Saudabad area of Malir. He said that the arrested killer confessed to killing three persons and injuring several people.
Shah said that in another raid, Aziz Bhatti police had arrested two car lifters Ghulam Abbas, son of Bhadur Ali and Abdul Latif, son of Ghulam Nabi, recovered two pistols and snatched car from their possession.
